New York attorney Brian Ponder requested copies of the warrant applications and arrest and search warrants for Gregory McMichael, 64, and son, Travis McMichael, 34, who were arrested on May 7th on murder and aggravated assault charges in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery on February 23, 2020. Ponder, a Georgia native, made the request to Glynn County Magistrate Court under Georgia's Open Records Act. A response is required within 3 days under the Act. Ponder lead a walk & run around Georgia's State Capitol on May 6th to bring attention to the murder. Ponder is not retained in the case, but describes himself as an advocate hoping to facilitate public transparency and official accountability to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution to get justice for Ahmaud Arbery, who was shot dead while jogging in Brunswick, Georgia .
